Service Description

Over 5 weeks, students will explore 5 different disciplines of engineering. Fun for new and returning students alike, each session ends with a take-home item built in class under instructor guidance, with opportunity to modify designs for students looking for an extra challenge! This 60-minute class allows plenty of time to really explore the science behind the projects. Parents are welcome to stay for the class, or to drop students off and pick up at the end of class time. THURSDAYS FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20 | $75 7:15pm-8:15pm Whyte Ridge Community Centre (170 Fleetwood Road) - Multipurpose Room - Thursday, February 20 - Mechanical Engineering - Car Joust: design vehicles to protect cargo and test them by crashing them into each other - Thursday, February 27 - Electrical Engineering - Magnet Hop: build a toy that uses magnets to make a bunny hop - Thursday, March 6 - Civil Engineering - Paper Towers: work in teams to create free-standing towers - Thursday, March 13 - Aerospace Engineering - Straw Rockets: launch air-powered indoor rockets - Thursday, March 20 - Cool Chemistry - Watch chemical reactions get hot and cold, plus mix up a batch of silly putty Activities subject to change based on student interest. This class is intended for ages 6-11. All activities can be modified to increase or decrease difficulty for individual students. Please contact winnipeg@engineeringforkids.com or 204-808-3019 to discuss registering kids outside of these age guidelines. Please note: if you had registered for the previous Whyte Ridge After School Program (Tuesdays from 4pm-5pm) and had selected to enroll in Thursday classes as well (“Part Two”), you are still registered for these Thursday classes and do not need to resubmit.
