Service Description
Over four weeks, students will explore four different disciplines of engineering through hands-on building projects. Fun for new and returning students alike, each session ends with a take-home item built in class under instructor guidance, with opportunity to modify designs for students looking for an extra challenge! This 60-minute class allows plenty of time to explore the science behind the projects. Parents are welcome to stay for the class, or to drop students off and pick up at the end of class time. DROP IN OPTION AVAILABLE: if you aren't able to attend all the classes, no worries! You can register here and mention which classes you'll be attending in the notes section of the registration form. You are only charged for the classes you attend ($15/ class). TUESDAYS APRIL 29 - MAY 27 (no class May 13) | $60 4:45pm-5:45pm Riverview Community Centre (90 Ashland Avenue) - Tuesday, April 29 - Mechanical Engineering - Candy Catapults: construct miniature catapults that use potential energy to launch projectiles - Tuesday, May 6 - Electrical Engineering - Flashlights: discover how to make a circuit bring power to a lightbulb - NO CLASS MAY 13 - Tuesday, May 20 - Civil Engineering - Toothpick Drawbridge: explore forces and loads to construct a bridge with a pulley feature - Tuesday, May 27 - Aerospace Engineering - Bottle Rockets: learn about the anatomy of a rocket to build one for an amazing outdoor launch! Activities subject to change based on student interest. This class is intended for ages 5-11. All activities can be modified to increase or decrease difficulty for individual students.
